Refurbishment of the old factory

The old Damm factory building is a historical one. It dates from the beginning of the 19th century and has been renovated and expanded several times.
When it came to developing the framework for the needs of office space, it faced a significant challenge: a space that had previously been used for manufacture or storage needed to be refurbished to be used as digitally-demanding offices finished to a high standard, without disregarding the regulations that govern this building (the exterior of which cannot be altered, nor its floor area ratio, nor its floor slabs be removed and replaced), as part of the mission to rehabilitate a building very damaged by the passage of time.

The idea behind the design, therefore, has always been modernising the workspace within a historical environment, leaving the footprint and scars of time untouched.

With all those requirements, Indus, individually and with the help of architects who assessed the property, has, since 2014, carried out various projects, renovating 5,000m2. They have built a canteen, offices for the presidency and the Damm foundation, events halls, car parks, and a large number of offices for employees.
Some of these projects have been participated in by the architect Pere Armadás and Gianni Ruggiero.
